AHHHH Chloe girl…

This is Chloe’s second week with me and she look like she’s is getting comfortable. Last weekend at adoptions she wasn’t so barky and seemed a little calmer when strangers approached the pen to take a look at all the adoptable dogs. She will come up to me when I get home from work and wag her tail follow me, which is a good sign and it shows that at least she likes me! Ha! She does absolutely great with my little dog, Lucy, and has since started playing with her. They always play chase in the morning while I am getting ready to go to work and I can always hear their little bells jingling from running around the house. Chloe is very patient and not aggressive with Lucy, even when Lucy tries dominate her and “push” her around . Chloe has never charged or bitten Lucy, and that’s what I love about her. She recently started sleeping with Lucy the past couple of nights which is hilarious since she sleeps in a little pink bed. But they manage to squeeze in there together! I have got to get a picture of it and I will be sure to post it! I posted a picture of them on the couch and they love to sit on it during the day and night. They are usually always together or at least keeping an eye out for each other.

Chloe is always becoming more playful with me also. A couple of times I have played chase with her and talked to her and she has her tail up and wagging and she does the doggie stance (her front paws on the floor but her butt in the air!). She is getting better about people coming into the house and doesn’t bark at much. I have made it a habit to at least pick her up everyday and hold and pet her for at least 5-10mintues a day to get her used to the human touch and to feel the “love”. I can usually get her to go into her kennel and the once she is in there, I will pull her out and hold her. She has never bitten me when I stick my hands in there to get her.

Next step…get her to love taking baths!!!

I was a proud foster last night...

Long story short...I gave Chloe some treats last night and she took them outta my hand and then I put a blankie on the couch for her to sleep on one of the couch pillows. This was about one foot away from where I was sitting.

I knew she wanted to get on the couch because she kept going to the couch looking at me and then walking in circle around the couch. Finally she jumped up and got onto the pill and laid down.

I gave her about 5 minutes and decided I would try what Linda did. I waited for her eyes to close then inched my finger and petted her thigh and as soon as she opened her eyes, I would take my hand away real quick. I did this about 3-4 times. Then I did it again but instead of moving my finger away I let her see that it was me touching her and she didn't move! I then progressed to using two fingers and then all my fingers to pet her. I made sure I moved slowly so she didn't frightened and get up. I was completely satisfied with that for her progress that day!

Well then she surprised me! When we all went to bed and got settled in, she got up from her bed on the floor and jumped in my bed! She walked around my legs for a bit and then settled down and laid down against my thigh side area.

I then started petting her and moved my way up from her leg to side to even the top of her head and ears. She let me do this so I worked my way to her chest and she ended up laying on her side and opening up her chest so I could pet and scratch her. (I was trying to hit all the favorite dog spots where dogs loved to be petted :))

Then I was able to massage her tummy and I thought I was gonna tear up! She did great and Linda you have done a great job with her! After about 25 minutes of this, she just jumped up and went down to her bed and went to sleep.

This morning I also caught her playing with Lucy and chasing her and wagging her tail all around so that made me happy to. I thought I honestly wouldn't even be able to touch her for at least 4-5 days but it looks like she is on the right path :)
